Take the family sailing for 1/2 day on beautiful Leech Lake! It's a great hands-on experience for everyone while under the watchful eye of a licensed captain.

6 Hour Course - Not just for kids - 14' -17' sailboat for any age sailor. The class is limited to 3 students who will receive the book "Let's Go Sailing", published by the American Sailing Association and an ASA logbook.
Course content includes: preparing the boat, getting underway, tacking, jibing, points of sail, steering, sail trim, reefing, crew overboard, docking, securing the boat, plus a solo checkout and written exam.
Classes are scheduled at your convenience but will be cancelled and rescheduled at the captain's discretion for unfavorable weather.

This is the starter course on which all Advanced classes are built. Qualified graduates will be charter certified for day sailing on 22' - 25' keelboats. The 12 hour course is taught by ASA-certified instructors and is limited to 4 students.
Scheduled at your convenience, the series is usually 2 - 3 sessions and includes: preparing the boat, outboard engine operations, getting underway, tacking, points of sail, boat balance, sail trim, jibing, helming, controlling angle of heel, heaving to, reefing, crew overboard drill, docking plus a solo checkout and written exam.
Course materials include the book, "Sailing Fundamentals", a video/DVD, Federal Regulations, Log book and a pre-test.

Students will learn fundamentals of large boat cruising in preparation for skippering on larger bodies of water. Prerequisite is the ASA 101 Basic Keelboat course or challenging the requirements with a written test and on-the-water checkout ride.
The course includes: boat systems and battery, electrical panel and engine, getting underway, maneuvering in crowded marinas, prop walk, sail trim, heaving to, reefing, crew overboard drill, sound signals, buoys, lights, VHF cruising tips, navigation, safety systems heavy weather sailing, docking plus a solo checkout and written exam.

A two-day live-aboard course held on a 34' cruising auxiliary sailboat on Leech Lake, this Bareboat Charter Certification course is taught by a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain. Qualified graduates will become bareboat charter certified for 30’-45’ auxiliary keelboats. Prerequisites include ASA 101 Basic Keelboat and ASA 103 Basic Cruising.
Course outline includes safety orientation, boat systems, getting underway, maneuvering in tight marinas, setting sails, reefing, heaving to, crew overboard drill, navigation and charts, emergency procedures, cruising tips, anchoring out one night, plus docking, solo checkout and a written exam.
Fee: $499 plus provisions.

Your Unique Opportunity for Bareboat Certification
for Family and Groups
Skipper and Crew course: Are you certified to Bareboat Charter? Or do you want to be? Do you have a crew that may or may not want to be certified? This is the course for you.
The course will certify the Skipper who is expected to meet all National and International standards of the American Sailing Association for Bareboat Skippers.
The course teaches the crew how to support the Skipper. Course content will vary by age, experience, and interest.
The course will focus on coaching the Skipper to develop the team and Crew. ASA standards provide the core of this instruction. Prerequisites are ASA 101 Basic Keelboat or the Skipper may challenge the requirements with a written test and on-the-water checkout ride. Group composition - four maximum please.
The skipper will brief the crew (with a little help from the school). Accommodations are comfortable aboard a 34' -36' yacht. The group arrives the preceding evening and sleeps aboard in the harbor on Leech Lake. You and your group provide the provisions with input from the Captain.

Maximum is two skippers plus two crew members. The Skippers receive the Basic cruising (103 standard) and Bareboat charter (104 standard). All crew members will receive valuable training and a “Competent Crew Certificate"!
Skippers provide the provisions for all.

Total cost is based on the number of Bareboat Skippers being nationally certified by the American Sailing Association. Each skipper or group of skippers provides provisions for the whole group (Don’t forget the Captain!)
